Siam Cup Tournament: Our NDC U13 & U15 boys showed claws and courage against the Thailand team

The final leg of the National Development Centre (NDC) Overseas Training Camp 2023 was recently concluded in Thailand from 4-15th December 2023.

Over an intensive 12-day period, our NDC Under-13 and Under-15 boys trained hard at Buriram United Training Camp and participated in the Siam Cup, a youth football tournament, facing off against Thai teams such as Buriram United and Chonburi FC.

Said Lachlan Armstrong, the Head of Delegation for NDC U13 and U15: “We were pleased to see how the players and staff met the challenge of preparing for and playing a series of games in a short period against high-quality Thai opposition. The experience gained living and breathing football over these couple of weeks will benefit our boys greatly as they continue to develop as NDC players and potential national team players of the future.”

For most players, this was their first experience playing consecutive matches within a condensed time frame. Being thrust into a situation that demanded intensive training and pitting them against formidable opponents served as a significant catalyst for enhancing their resilience and gameplay.

“This training camp has really honed my skills,” said Putera Nur Muhammad Irfan Ismail, an NDC U13 player. “Adjusting my playstyle against Thai opponents, who bring a strong and aggressive approach, required me to react and decide faster on the pitch.”
